Geniculate – bends like a knee

Nadir – the lowest point of adversity or despair

Emoji – a small digital image to express emotion or idea 

Argot – the jargon or slang of a particular group or class

Geotropism – tendency to grow downwards under the influence of gravity

The writers grabbed the words of the day while working in their argot wrote about - The name of Eric, My bad, The chimney, The spell had been cast, Just fired, The road ahead and Once in a lifetime.

Reading of homework

The six writers read out their homework about - Springing a leak, The kitchenette, Favourite blue socks, An unsuitable job for me, Unexpected stories from a published author and Coffee.

Exercise – memories of the Easter show

The writers delved into their memory banks and wrote about - Show bags, Like a trance, With the family, Excitement and The show is the worst.

The writers used the words of the day and wrote about - Black bar night club, Doing a Bradbury, Jones town, Aunty Meme (a brilliant poem) and The bible.

Reading of homework

The six writers read homework about - Cruise diary of a hair dresser; I came from Gladesville, Last scene from the Titanic with music, Norovirus on board, My love affair with P and O and The hundred dollar note.

Exercise – write about a lie you told

The six writers wrote about – I stopped stealing, I ran into my brother’s car, I stole a cigarette, I had a dream, Didn’t feel a twinge and I am too much of a wimp.

Troll –     an ugly creature depicted as either a giant or dwarf

Luxuriant – lush, rich, abundant and thick and healthy hair

Vague – unclear, indefinite character or meaning

Inconsistent – not staying the same throughout

Recalcitrant – uncooperative, defiant

Heath Robinson – an English cartoonist best known for drawings of whimsically elaborate machines to achieve simple objectives

The writers used the words of the day to write about - Lost in space, I like simple cartoons, According to his mother, Thai politics, Left side of the brain and NSW elections.

Reading of homework

Seven writers read out their homework on the topics - The bookshop, Connections, Painting of a horse, medication, star sign, Citizens of Australia unite, In Wagga, Round the world 1995 and Dancing in St Georges Basin.

Exercise – helium, circus, rings, balloons, popcorn, clown, elephant, laugh, top, tent, tame, tight rope, acrobat, master, lion. The writers choose three words and used the phrase “She shrugged her shoulders and said I don’t know why” and wrote about

Helium gas, We aren’t getting anywhere, The party type, He laughs at his own jokes, Favourite snack, Animals and Hot air balloons.

The writers attached themselves to the words of the day and wrote about - The Opera House, In the jungle, Another of those situations, The gentle murmur, Don’t do it in bed, The oldies and Trump can boom or tweet.

Reading of homework

Four writers read out stories - Rather clean the yard, Something strange, Hungry beast, Rocket man & Trump and A progressive write.

Exercise using an action, person, item, texture, emotion and colour

The seven writers observed their immediate environment and wrote about - Ice on the golf club, A Coca Cola sign, The mouldy leather bag, Like the clear water in the bottle, A lonely glass of water on a tray, White drapes and Silver stars.

Update from Hans Kieft on song writing project

Hans attended the meeting and suggested

• The writers group work together develop a story using poems and stories
• The writing group work to develop five or ten concept ideas
• This is a long term project
• Target audience 20 to 60 age group –Itune and Spotify users
• Target the I- tune audience
• Not financially worth while to make a CD
• Hans would like to receive poems to make into lyrics
• The writer will receive copyright

Hans played several songs based on poems written by Helene – which were brilliant.
